Special Matinee Set for "Singin' in the Rain"
by Diane Lewis
Music Theatre of Wichita will present a free matinee performance for young people - 6 and up - and their families, especially families with special needs or disabilities, young people in "at risk" situations, or families who have not had the ability to see an MTW production.
Admission is free, but reservations must be made in advance.
The special performance, sponsored again this year by the Forrest C. Lattner Foundation, will be a 90-minute matinee of "Singin' in the Rain" at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 in Century II Concert Hall.
The stage version has a cast of 61, headed by Broadway veteran Michael Gruber, plus a full orchestra. It is based on the classic MGM movie musical, considered by many to be one of the 10 best movies of all time.
Young people, specially challenged adults or groups interested in making reservations should call Music Theatre of Wichita at 265-3253 and speak to David Frain or Anne Yoder.
