Bio:
Michael Gruber (Tom Marlowe) returns to MTW after a spectacular debut with us last season as Don Lockwood in Singin in the Rain. This demanding role, created on film by Gene Kelly, calls for a handsome, charismatic actor with extraordinary dance skills and stamina. Michael filled the role admirably, and his performance won him many fans, both in Wichita and in Sacramento, where he recently reprised the role. Delighted to have Michael in the MTW family, we brought him back last February for our Valentine’s show, Songs of Love and Laughter, and for two shows this summer, creating the role of Tom Marlowe in the new adaptation of Good News!, and co-starring with Toni Kaye in Anything Goes. A former NCAA All American springboard and platform diver, Michael has done extremely well since bringing all of his discipline and focus to the musical stage. Michael was the final Mike (“I Can Do That”) when A Chorus Line closed on Broadway, and then went on to create roles in the original Broadway cast of Miss Saigon and My Favorite Year. A native Cicinnatian, and an alumnus of the College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, OH, Michael’s also a composer/arranger, who recently completed his first original musical play Hypatia, with collaborator Jennifer Allen.
