Playbill Bio:
MICHAEL GRUBER has Broadway credits that include the original companies of Swing!, Miss Saigon and My Favorite Year; Hortensio in Kiss Me, Kate; Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (with Roseanne); Mike in A Chorus Line; and Munkustrap in Cats. Mr. Gruber also performed Munkustrap in the movie of Cats, filmed at the Adelphi Theatre in London. Favorite regional productions include Young Ben in the critically acclaimed production of Follies, Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain and Fingers in Red, Hot and Blue (all at the Paper Mill Playhouse); Wizzer in Falsettos (Alliance Theatre, Atlanta); Jud in Oklahoma! (Directed by Vivian Matelon for the Arizona Theatre Co.); Lucky in Dames at Sea (Goodspeed); Bobby Child in Crazy for You (PCPA Theaterfest); Billy Crocker in Anything Goes (5th Ave. Theatre, Seattle); Cousin Kevin in the '99 concert tour of Tommy; the white guy in Smokey Joe's Cafe (Sacramento Music Circus); Tom Marlowe in the revival of Good News! (Music Theater of Wichita) and Riff in the national and European tours of West Side Story. Cast recordings include 42nd Street, Singin' in the Rain, Wonderful Town, Good News, Swing!, Follies, The Most Happy Fella, My Favorite Year and The Music Man. In collaboration with his writing partner of 15 years, Jennifer Allen, Mr. Gruber is the composer of three original musicals: Hit It, Mike!; The Old Dead Five; and currently, Vegas Organic.
