Bio:
Michael Gruber (Billy Crocker) continues his summer with us, after creating the role of Tom Marlowe in our world premier version of Good News!. Michael first came to us last year to star as Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain, a performance he recently reprised in Sacramento. This demanding role, created on film by Gene Kelly, calls for a handsome, charismatic actor with extraordinary dance skills and stamina, and we were so impressed with Michael’s work that we brought him back for our Valentine’s show Songs of Unlikely Lovers. A former NCAA All American springboard and platform diver, Michael has done extremely well since bringing all of his discipline and focus to the musical stage. Michael was the final Mike (“I Can Do That”) when A Chorus Line closed on Broadway, and then went on to create roles in the original Broadway cast of Miss Saigon and My Favorite Year. A native Cincinnatian, and an alumnus of the College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, OH, Michael’s also a composer/arranger, who recently completed his first original musical play Hypatia, with collaborator Jennifer Allen.
